Parker is ONE!

PARKER IS ONE!

(almost)

 

I cannot believe my little man is already turning one tomorrow! He’s learning and doing SO much these days, it’s simply amazing to watch him learn and do new things!

 

This week, he has started walking. I don’t mean taking 2-3 steps then falling. He’s literally pulling up to standing position and walking across the room. Although, he hasn’t “perfected” walking, he’s getting pretty darn good at it.

 

Some of Parker’s favorite things to do are:  pull all the books in his bedroom off the bookshelves (and he has over 200 books), pull all of the clothes out of his dresser drawers, pull all the diapers out of the basket on his changing table, and pull all the bibs and burpcloths out of their basket as well. Hmmm… If I could only convince him that it would be a lot more fun to put all these items back in the buckets/baskets/shelves, it would be amazing! Haha!

 

Parker also enjoys eating (anything he can get his hands on) and drinking from a straw! He is transitioning well to organic whole milk from sippy cups (although he does still prefer me to nuke the milk so it’s not too cold), but pretty much only gets 1-2 bottles a day at max. He is eating table foods like a champ! His favorite foods are: spinach, mac-n-cheese, turkey, yogurt, veggie stix, and strawberry breakfast bars. He does not enjoy pasta with a red sauce, but overall is not a very picky eater! Thank goodness!

 

Parker’s favorite things are:  books (he loves turning the pages), dinosaurs (it’s kind of his theme we’ve forced on him), kitchen utensils (especially a basting brush and spatula), opening the lid to the trash can when mommy isn’t looking then smashing his fingers, taking long bubble baths and playing with all his bath tub toys. Parker loves to sleep, he will sometimes sleep until 10 or 11 o’clock in the morning (especially on Saturdays, thank goodness)! His favorite place to play is in our long hallway. He enjoys to practice walking and playing with Spencer!

 

Paker hates:  diaper changes (literally, it’s like wrestling an alligator). He hates going to sleep, but sleeps well once he gets there… He also hates getting woken up in the mornings, not a morning person describes him to a T. He hates getting out of the bathtub, that’s the only part of the bath that he’s not happy about. Parker despises getting his nose wiped or suctioned. He will screen bloody murder!

 

Parker is scared of: car toys that make noises and/or move on their own. He LOVES playing with them, until they take off without warning and then he runs to mommy or daddy and clutches on for dear life. It’s somewhat pitiful, but a little humorous as well. J

 

Parker has 8 (and a half) teeth.

 

As of right now, he weighs approximately 26 pounds.

 

He has had 4 haircuts in his first year of life.

 

He loves to watch VeggieTales!

 

 

Tomorrow (January 11^th) is Parker’s first birthday and first birthday party!! Today, I am thankful that my doctor induced me on a Friday so we get to enjoy a Saturday birthday party! I have put myself to work (with the “help” of pinterest) to create the cutest little dinosaur birthday party ever! I will be sure to post pictures after this weekend after the birthday party. :)
